Réserve Naturelle Missions of the Reserve Les missions de la Réserve Les missions de la Réserve naturelle de Saint-Martin sont définies par un plan de gestion. Outre les suivis scientifiques réguliers (mammifères marins, tortues marines, oiseaux, coraux et herbiers), la Réserve a mené plusieurs actions majeures en 2016, tels : La création de l'Institut caribéen de la biodiversité insulaire, dont la construction débutera en 2017. Plusieurs études sur les requins, leur comportement, leur population. Le recensement et la cartographie du melocactus intortus et du gaïac. L'inventaire floristique et faunistique de la partie terrestre de la Réserve. La mise en valeur du site de Babit Point. Le suivi du projet BioHab d'implantation d'habitats artificiels légers pour la restauration écologique marine. La création de pépinières de coraux. La restauration du site du Galion et la destruction des ruines d'un ancien hôtel, avec le Conservatoire du littoral. La coordination du projet européen BEST pour préserver la biodiversité dans les îles européennes de la Caraïbe, avec le CARSPAW. Inventaire floristique Inventory of the flora The missions of the Réserve Naturelle de Saint-Martin are defined by its management plan. In addition to regular scientific studies (marine mammals, marine turtles, birds, coral, and underwater plant beds), the Réserve instituted several major new activities in 2016 : Creation of the Caribbean Institute of Insular Biodiversity, for which construction will begin in 2017; Several studies on sharks: their behavior; their population.
